Shuttle Busses To Replace Commuter Rail In Woburn
Ongoing work around North Station will also impact Commuter Rail service on the Haverhill, Newburyport/Rockport and Fitchburg lines.

WOBURN, MA – Commuter Rail service disruptions will hit Woburn and surrounding communities beginning this weekend, according to an MBTA alert.
Free shuttle buses will replace Commuter Rail Lowell Line service between Anderson/Woburn station and North Station in Boston on July 30 and 31 and Aug. 6 and 7. This is due to ongoing signal work around North Station, according to the MBTA.
Dating back to at least 2019, the roughly $45 million project is due to be completed later this year. It is part of a larger effort by the MBTA to increase capacity at North Station.

When complete, the MBTA has said, these upgraded signals will require less maintenance, reducing train delays, among other things.
Impacting stations in Woburn, Winchester, Medford and Boston over upcoming weekends, these Lowell Line disruptions will coincide with separate disruptions on the Haverhill, Newburyport/Rockport and Fitchburg Commuter Rail lines all related to work at North Station.
