Woburn Announces Memorial Day Commemoration Details
In addition to the annual ceremony on the Common, there will be ceremonies at local cemeteries and a Veterans Breakfast.

WOBURN, MA — United Veterans Council of Woburn and the City of Woburn's Veterans' Office have announced details of the city's commemoration of Memorial Day later this month.
Memorial Day falls on May 29, and the city's annual Memorial Day Ceremony will take place that day on Woburn Common.
The city will have additional events in the days leading up to Memorial Day, including American flags being placed at two local cemeteries.

At 9 a.m. on Friday, May 26, American Legion Post 101 will place flags at Calvary Cemetery, located at 686 Washington St. in Winchester. At 8 a.m. the following day, VFW Post 543 will place flags at Woodbrook Cemetery, at 100 Salem St.
From 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, May 28, a Veterans Breakfast is scheduled at Woburn Moose Lodge, located at 4 Federal Street.

On May 29, Memorial Day events actually will begin at 8 a.m. on Main Street, by Rockland Trust and Saint Charles Elementary School. A Call to Order will be followed by remarks by Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin and a procession to the Common.
The ceremony at the Common is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will feature remarks from Commander George Poole, of the United Veterans Council of Woburn, Bob Davis, director of Veterans' Services, and Galvin, among others.
There also will be multiple patriotic musical selections, including the "Star-Spangled Banner," "Taps," and an armed forces medley. Proclamations will be read by Woburn Memorial High School Students.
A roll call, the firing of rifle volleys and the reading of General John A. Logan's Order are Memorial Day traditions scheduled to be part of the ceremony.
The ceremony on the Common is scheduled to be followed by a 10:45 a.m. ceremony at Woburn Hebrew Cemetery, 19 Washington St., and an 11 a.m. ceremony at Calvary Cemetery.
All are welcome to both ceremonies, which will feature prayers, musical selections, roll call and the playing of "Taps."
