“It’s a new twist on a traditional sport, which opens up so much more playing time,” AfterDark Technologies CEO Dan Wilson told the Boston Business Journal.

All of AfterDark’s products are designed for night-time use in either adult, college or youth sports leagues. Wilson says the company, made up of four staffers, wanted to create a way to enhance the game.

As of right now, AfterDark offers a 7-on-7 kit, equipped with jerseys, field markers, two footballs and a carrying bag. The set runs for $800.

“It’s like moths to a flame, everybody sees it going on, with the ball streaming through the sky, they want to try it,” Wilson told the BBJ.

AfterDark has hopes of creating individual balls and vests for those who want to play within a smaller setting.

The company is releasing the nighttime flag football kit at ”Catch the Night on the Common” on Boston Common on Oct. 16, 2015.
