Woburn Man Arrested After Alleged Market Basket Robbery

Jason O'Doherty, 30, demanded money from a service clerk at the Market Basket in Tewksbury on Monday, police said.

A Woburn resident was arrested Tuesday for allegedly robbing the Market Basket in Tewksbury on Monday morning.

According to police, Jason O’Doherty, 30, was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Tewksbury Police were called to the grocery store around 11:45 a.m. on Monday for a report of an armed robbery.

Upon arriving at the store on Main Street, police learned O’Doherty allegedly demanded $200 from an employee who was working at the service desk.

Police said O’Doherty handed the employee a note which reportedly read: “$200 or I will pull it.”

O’Doherty committed a second robbery Monday night in Chelmsford, according to police.

After reviewing store surveillance footage, police were able to identify the suspect. He was arrested in Lowell and arraigned Tuesday on robbery charges.
