The Woburn City Council’s Special Permits Committee voted Tuesday to endorse a proposal that would turn a vacant structure into a mixed-use building at 434 Main Street in the downtown area, the Daily Times reports. The proposed project would construct a first-floor restaurant with two floors of housing above.
Hugo Moraes, current owner of Tudo na Brasa, a restaurant at 414 Main Street, plans to add seven apartments in addition to the proposed restaurant.

The project also calls for 14 parking spaces at the Walnut Street parking lot, located 500 feet from 434 Main Street. Though the parking situation did spark some concerns over the already congested area. The council is considering ways to alleviate the issue, including the implementation of parking meters.
“I applaud your efforts. It’s great to see that building developed,” Alderman at-large Michael Concannon said at Tuesday’s meeting.
