Woburn Reports Over 2,000 Confirmed Cases, 8% Positive Rate

The city remained in the high-risk category and added over 400 cases over the last two weeks, according to the latest state data.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn has reported over 2,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and remains in the high-risk category after the latest state update Thursday.

According to state town-by-town data, the city added 458 cases over the last two weeks and had an 8.4 percent positive test rate.

The city reported that it has had 2,097 total cases, as of Wednesday. The city also updated its data on patients in isolation, dropping the population in isolation to 309 and raising the number of recovered patients to 1,748.

The city reports 40 deaths, although it notes that due to differing definitions, the state reports the city has had 71 coronavirus deaths.

Woburn's two-week average positive test rate rose from 7.5 percent last week to 8.4 percent Thursday. The two-week case count rose from 344 to 458.

The city had 78.8 average daily cases per 100,000 residents, above the statewide rate of 65.1.

Statewide, over half of city and towns were designated high risk Thursday, the first time that label has applied to the majority of communities. Positive test rates rose in 275 communities.

The state reported 4,985 coronavirus cases and 44 deaths Thursday. The seven-day average of hospitalized patients was 1,761, up from 1,498 a week prior. There were 383 patients in intensive care Thursday.

Woburn reported 44 thousand tests in the last two weeks, with 6,205 positive results.
