Woburn Vigil Planned Friday For Atlanta Spa Shooting Victims

A number of local organizations planned a vigil "to stand in solidarity with our Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community members."

WOBURN, MA — A number of Woburn organizations have planned a vigil Friday evening to honor the victims of the Atlanta spa shootings.

"All members of the Woburn community are invited to come together for a vigil to honor the victims of the Atlanta spa shootings and to stand in solidarity with our Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community members," the organizers said in an announcement.

The March 16 spa shootings killed eight people, six of them Asian women, across three Atlanta-area spas.

The vigil will begin at 5:15 p.m. Friday on the Woburn Common, with a brief speaking program beginning at 5:30 p.m. Speakers will include members of the Asian American community.

Coronavirus safety precautions will be in place including mask-wearing and distancing.

The event will be streamed live on Facebook and the video will be available later from the Woburn Public Media Center.
