Woburn's Goodyear Elementary A Finalist In Boston 25 Contest

The top school when voting closes at 11 p.m. will win $5,000 for any school purpose.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn's Goodyear Elementary School is a finalist in Boston 25's My School Rules! contest to win $5,000.

The school is one of two elementary schools in the running, facing Worcester's Grafton Street Elementary School.

The leading school when voting closes at 11 p.m. Thursday will receive $5,000 for any school use.

As of Thursday morning, Goodyear trails Grafton, with 7,329 votes to the Worcester school's 6,965.

According to the Boston 25 report, the Woburn school was nominated by a parent whose kid had gone through the GAIN program, a program for high-needs children. The student's mother wanted the teachers recognized.

Principal Ken Kessaris said the winnings would go toward the school's "sensory room."
