Woburn's Preliminary Election: What You Need To Know

The city-wide preliminary election will narrow the field of candidates running for mayor from three to two finalists.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn will hold a city-wide preliminary election Tuesday to narrow the field of candidates running for mayor from three to two. Mayor Scott Galvin is being challenged by first-time candidates Elizabeth Pedrini and Kerstin J. D. Lochrie. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

If you're not registered to vote, you missed the deadline for Tuesday's election, but you still have time to register for the general election on Nov. 5. In addition to the mayor's race, contested races for city council and school committee will be decided in November.

Applications for an absentee ballot for the preliminary election must be filed with the Office of the City Clerk by 12:00 noon on Monday, September 9, 2019.
