2 Shrewsbury Men Charged With Purse Snatching In Worcester

A woman was walking on Main Street by Crystal Park when a car pulled up next to her.

WORCESTER, MA—Two men are facing charges after a woman was the victim of a purse-snatching near Crystal Park in Worcester.

Police were called to 965 Main St. for a report of an unarmed robbery on Friday, Sept. 28, around 2:28 a.m. A man had just grabbed a woman's purse and took off in a black Suburban-style vehicle. An officer spotted a black Chevrolet Tahoe at the intersection of Main Street and Hammond Street; it had the license plate number broadcast to police.

Police flipped on their emergency lights and siren, attempting to pull the Tahoe over. The driver wouldn't stop, but eventually did after being followed to 5 Mount Pleasant Street.

There were two men in the Tahoe. The driver was identified as Daniel Frederickson, 29, Eaton Avenue, Shrewsbury. The passenger was identified as Michael Entwistle, 32, Topsfield Circle, Shrewsbury. Police found an open bottle of alcohol and the purse that belonged to the woman who called police.

The victim, who is 32, ID'd Entwistle. She said she was walking on Main Street by Crystal Park when a car pulled up next to her. They stopped and a man got out, ran up to her, and grabbed the purse. He jumped back in the Tahoe and headed toward downtown, said police.

The female victim was unhurt. The purse and all of its contents were returned to the victim.

Frederickson was placed under arrest and charged with Unarmed Robbery, Failure to Stop for Police and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. Entwistle was placed under arrest and charged with Unarmed Robbery and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. Both men were arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
