Assumption College Honors Program Inducts 63 New Members

The Assumption College Honors Program inducted 63 new members on Sunday, October 30, before an audience of administrators, faculty, and families. Local students include:

• Aleeza Isaac of Shrewsbury

The Honors Program at Assumption College is a demanding, in-depth curriculum that seeks to challenge students to achieve their full potential. The Honors Program enables academically gifted students to push themselves and explore their ambitions with other highly motivated students. Students are encouraged to choose courses that focus on their interests and passions, then apply what they've learned to real world experiences in the community.

Honors students, most who have only been at the College for a short time, have demonstrated their ambition for success with their engagement inside and outside the classroom and their passion for challenging themselves as well as their peers.

Professor Molly Flynn, director of the Honors program stated, "The College and the Honors Program are excited to welcome so many excellent students, which is designed to challenge them intellectually while also developing them as human beings and providing a community where they can flourish."

Students apply to the Honors Program when they apply to the College as a high school senior. (Those students who demonstrate academic excellence during their first semester at Assumption are also welcome to apply.) The College then reviews a number of criteria: standardized test scores; class rank; engagement inside and outside the classroom; demonstrated passion for learning; and grade point average (GPA). Students must maintain a GPA of 3.25 in Honors courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.
