Contribution: 'To Compare This Directly to 9-11 is Kind of Crazy'
"To us 'never Trumpers,' this is a horror show. Second, I do admit that some of the comments from liberal friends have been over the top."

MASSACHUSETTS—He added to his post the Tom Petty tune "Time to Move On." Joining millions in dismay, disappointment and fear in the election of Donald Trump to the presidency, Jim Perry, local musician, and frequent political poster, joined those in the disappointment. But more than a day after the reality set in, he's got a message to his liberal friends.
Perry posted the following on his Facebook page, and shared it with Patch:
Okay, now that I've had a day to mourn and piss and moan, I have a few comments to make, then it's back to 'this thing called life.'
First, a word about my posts from yesterday. A lot of the comments from my conservative friends were telling me to basically get over it, and stop whining because 'your candidate didn't win.' Well, this is not about winning and losing. This is about Trump, period. If we were looking at a President Kasich, or a President Jeb Bush, my reaction, and that of my liberal friends, would be much different. We would be much more accepting. Let me say it again. This is about Trump. He is totally unfit for office. To us 'never Trumpers', this is a horror show.
Second, I do admit that some of the comments from liberal friends have been over the top. To compare this directly to 9/11 is kind of crazy, I think. And the whole idea of moving to another country is pretty extreme. But since we're talking about 'over the top' comments, us libs have lived through eight years of 'over the top', so give us a few days to do some out of control venting!!! LOL
Third, the Dems fielded the wrong candidate. This was the worst election to have the ultimate insider represent your party. Bernie had a much better chance of winning. I am not sad that Hillary won't be my president. But I'm petrified that Trump will.
Fourth, the treatment of Clinton by the Republican party was pretty awful. The anti Clinton forces sunk to new lows. It's amazing how much the Repubs hate anything having to do with either Clinton. But bringing Bill's accusers to a debate so they can sit there and make Hillary stew?......Absolutely despicable. Trump threatening to put her in jail as soon as he takes office? Frightening.
Fifth, I believe that my progressive lib friends and I will pull it together and fight for what we believe in without resorting to continuous attacks on the opposition regardless of what they do. If the Trump administration came up with a sensible option to Obamacare, I'd be happy. Whatever.
Sixth, have you seen the Republican Party Platform? That scares me more than Trump himself. Dramatic increases in defense spending (so much for 'small government'), an amendment to the Constitution to make abortion illegal, make Christianity the official religion, etc... This is all insane, and if these policies are implemented, then we'll be slowly slipping away from pure Democracy.
Seventh, I will truly miss the Obamas. My conservative friends, for some reason, think that all libs worship the ground Obama walks on. Not true. I've never seen that. We are very critical of some of his moves. But him and his family are the epitome of class, and they served our country as the First Family with honor and distinction. And this, despite horrific treatment from the haters. God bless them.
Lastly, to all my lib friends who suddenly want to disown their conservative friends, don't do it. They are still your friends. We cannot keep dividing. We have to all work together, respect our differences, and try too keep politics separate from friendships.
That's it. Time to move on.
