Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm Arrest: Police

Police found a firearm in the possession of an unlicensed 21-year-old man after pulling over a car with a defective tail light.

WORCESTER, MA - Police found an illicit firearm after pulling over a car with a defective headlight, police said.

Police said they pulled over the car near the gas station at 89 Summer St. Friday. Five passengers were seen moving around the vehicle and refused to comply with commands, police said.

During the stop passenger Brandon Johnson, 21, admitted to having a firearm.

Officers conducted a pat frisk and found the firearm and ammunition in Johnson’s backpack, police said.

Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of firearm and ammunition without an FID card, carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, police said,

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 19-year-old Giovanni Castro, who did not possess a driver’s license, police said.

Castro was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, owner failure to have a motor vehicle inspection and motor vehicle equipment violation, according to police.
