Demolition Of Worcester's Picadilly Plaza Scrapped: Report
The owner of the Shrewsbury Street plaza planned to demolish it to build a bank and Starbucks. Plans have changed.

WORCESTER, MA — Love it, hate it or don't really have an opinion on it — Picadilly Plaza along Shrewsbury Street is here to stay.
Plans to demolish the plaza and its iconic sign at the top of Shrewsbury Street have been set aside, according to the Worcester Business Journal. Exactly two years ago, owner Franklin-based American East Coast II LLC sought permission to tear down the structure and add a bank and Starbucks.
But the project did not receive an approval for a drive-thru for the Starbucks, according to the WBJ, leading the owner to instead focus on filling the existing buildings. A Brazilian steakhouse is coming soon, a replacement for the Terra Brasilis restaurant that moved just over the bridge in Shrewsbury after demolition plans were made public.
