Drug, Gun Arrests After Police Respond To 'Problem House' In City

The house was allegedly being used as an illegal rooming house, and also a center for drug activity.

WORCESTER, MA—Several arrests were made after officers honed in on a "trouble house" in Worcester.

On Friday, Nov. 2, officers headed to 9 Corinth Drive after police got numerous complaints about the property. Task force officers had been told that the property had "constant transient foot traffic, indications of potential drug activity, disorderly persons," said police, adding that the home was being run as an illegal rooming house.

Officers had set up surveillance cameras, and monitored the situation for some time. Around 9:45 a.m., a plain clothes officer spotted a man standing outside with which he was familiar, the man getting picked by a taxi and driving off.

Police pulled over Marcin Klama, 32, Corinth Drive, Worcester, who had an outstanding warrant and was arrested. Police learned that a Natalie Weiss, who lives at the Corinth Drive address, also had an existing warrant.

It became apparent to the officers that this home was in fact being run as an illegal rooming house so they now contacted members of the city of Worcester Quality of Life Unit to respond to the address. Officers went to the home, and went into the house when it started to rain heavily, and saw ten people inside.

The odor of marijuana was strong, and officers spotted a scale with marijuana on it, sandwich bags on the table. Two men, also, were acting nervously, according to police, and one - Owen Alicea, 22, Belmont Street, Worcester, looked like he was stuffing something into the cushion of the chair. A 17-year-old man was seen kicking his leg to allegedly hide something beneath couch.

Officers demanded that Alicea showed his hands, but it was ignored, and he tried to head into the kitchen. Where Alicea was sitting was the handle of a handgun sticking out of the cushion, said police. The officer yelled "gun!" and everyone was secured.

In a duffle bag on the floor, officers found raw marijuana with plastic baggies and other marijuana that was bagged up for sale, said police.

The weapon was identified as a loaded .40 caliber Glock 23. The weapon had a large capacity feeding device attached to it. Alicea does not have the proper licenses to carry a firearm.

Alicea was placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of aLarge Capacity Weapon, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

After some records checks, Natalie Weiss, 39, Corinth Drive, Jennifer Pierce, 39, 25 Queen St. and Amanda Lareau, 32, 75 Colekiln Road, Princeton, all had outstanding arrest warrants.

In addition to the five mentioned arrests, the 17-year-old male was also placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Class B Substance with the Intent to Distribute.

The five adults will be arraigned on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Worcester County District Courthouse. The juvenile will be arraigned at the Worcester County Juvenile Courthouse on a date yet to be determined.
