WORCESTER, MA — An Ohio-based manufacturer will pay a five-figure fine after allowing "caustic odors" to waft across Worcester neighborhoods from its factory along Goddard Memorial Drive, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection.

Pan Glo New England will pay over $11,600 after state inspectors found that the company failed to regulate emissions emanating from its facility. The company specializes in cleaning and re-coating baking pans. State officials discovered the problem after getting a complaint about foul odors near the factory.

"The inspection revealed multiple violations by the company, including causing caustic odors to emanate off-site, failing to manage air emissions and pollution control devices, violating several hazardous waste rules and protocols; and failing to submit required Toxic Use Reduction documentation," MassDEP said in a news release Thursday.
