Healey In Worcester For Launch Of New Office-To-Housing Grant
The launch of a new grant program will take place at a downtown Worcester office tower set to be turned into apartments.

WORCESTER, MA — The site of a planned office-to-housing conversion in downtown Worcester will be the focal point of a visit from Gov. Maura Healey on Friday to launch a new grant program for similar projects.
Healey, Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll, Secretary of Housing and Livable Communities Ed Augustus — the former Worcester city manager — and MassHousing CEO Chrystal Kornegay will appear at the former Fallon Health building along Elm Street Friday afternoon.
The new grant program, according to a news release, will be aimed at developers who want to turn unused office space into housing.

Developer Synergy Investments has proposed converting the Fallon Health tower at 22 Elm St. into 198 apartments. The healthcare company said in November that it would vacate the Elm Street building by the end of 2024 to move into a smaller space at the former Unum headquarters adjacent to the Mercantile Center.
Friday's event begins at 12:45 p.m., and City Manager Eric Batista and Mayor Joseph Petty will also join, according to the governor's office.
