Here's Which Worcester Schools Got Upgrades This Summer

Seven public schools in the city underwent improvement projects.

WORCESTER, MA — With the first day approaching soon, here are the schools in Worcester that underwent improvement projects this summer.

Seven schools in Worcester had projects done to improve safety, accessibility, energy efficiency and learning environments for students, according to a news release from the school district.

Worcester East Middle School underwent a window replacement. This summer was just the first phase of the project, according to the district. 375 inoperable and outdated windows were replaced.

At Roosevelt Elementary School, the facilities department implemented site and parking improvements. There will be new bus and student drop-off lanes, as well as a new parking lot with more than 40 spaces.

Worcester Technical High School's parking garage was restored. The district repaired the concrete, replaced the sealant, and made upgrades to the drainage system.

The Fanning Building recieved an exterior gym ramp and doors, which are both ADA-compliant. There is new exit signage and LED lighting, as well.

Thorndyke Road School, Lincoln Street School, Gerald Creamer Center and Challenge and Reach Academy were part of $10 million multi-site accessible improvements.

Those improvements included restored restrooms, upgraded hardware and improvements to fire safety equipment. Additionally, there will be new elevators at Thornyde and Lincoln schools, but those will not be finished until next summer.
