WORCESTER, MA - Khrystian King, the current city council vice chairman, announced Thursday morning he will run for mayor this fall.

In a news release centered around the failings of city hall, King preached a need for real leadership and accountability. He cited rising housing prices and high costs of living, and said Worcester can't become another unaffordable extension of Boston.

A social worker of 30 years, King finished in second place behind Major Joseph Petty in the 2023 election. It's still unknown whether the incumbent mayor will seek another term, but for now all eyes are on King.
