WORCESTER, MA — Local leaders visited a school to teach leadership to early learners.

Sen. Robyn Kennedy and Quinsigamond Community College's Chief of Police Steve DiGiovanni visited QCC's Children's School Early Childhood Education Lab. The visits were part of the school's initiative to promote leadership.

The lab is an early learning experience for children ages 2.9 through 5 years old.

Both Kennedy and DiGiovanni held reading sessions and a discussion. The children learned all about their roles in the community. They also discovered different careers in public service.

"Senator Kennedy even fielded a few tough questions about the current political climate," said Erin Roache, Director of the Children's School/Early Childhood Education Lab. "What a beautiful moment to see the children we advocate for become their own advocates with leadership."

During DiGiovanni’s visit, the children participated in an event similar to the Touch-a-Truck event. There, they got to see different community service vehicles up close.

“Our focus with the children right now is on all the different roles it takes to make a community thrive,” said Roache. “These visits were a wonderful way to start."
