MA State Trooper Seriously Injured During Police Chase
The trooper was reportedly injured during the apprehension of the suspect.

NEW SALEM, MA — A Massachusetts State Police trooper suffered "serious injuries" during the apprehension of a suspect in a vehicle pursuit that ended in New Salem on Friday afternoon. Multiple reports indicate the trooper was stabbed.
The suspect was also seriously injured, state police said. Reports say the suspect was shot.
The trooper, who is 47, is receiving treatment at UMass-Memorial hospital and is expected to survive. The suspect will face several charges, including assault and reckless endangerment. The suspect, who is 18, may have been wanted for a carjacking, according to a spokesperson during a press briefing.

The pursuit ended in the driveway of a residence with a cul-de-sac style driveway. The pursuit came to an end when the suspect struck a concrete pole with the vehicle, and subsequently jumped from the car and went toward the trooper with a knife. The trooper then fired at the suspect, said Mass. State Police.
The pursuit began near the Vermont and Massachusetts border through Orange, and lasted roughly a half an hour, estimated police.
