Man Charged With Assault, Robbery On Street In Worcester: PD

The man allegedly came up to the victim and went through his pockets, and hit him in the head with a handgun.

WORCESTER, MA—Video surveillance proved helpful in identifying a man who allegedly robbed someone on the street and hit him in the head with a gun, said police.

Worcester police headed to Canterbury Street, where a 32-year-old man told police he had been the victim of a recent robbery. Around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, the victim said he was walking on Canterbury Street and had just cashed a check when he was approached by a man who asked him if he wanted to buy drugs from him. The victim said he declined, and the two walked away from each other.

While the victim was still in that area, a second man came up to him and demanded his belongings and tried to go through his pockets, said police. The man also pulled out a handgun and hit the side of the victim's face with it. The victim, who did not get hurt, broke free and called police.
