Man Sentenced For Kidnapping, Throwing Child Off Bridge In Worcester: DA
The incident happened in 2017.
WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester man accused of kidnapping, strangling and attempting to murder a child was sentenced to prison on Friday, according to the Worcester County District Attorney.
The DA said Joshua Hubert, 43, kidnapped and strangled a 7-year-old girl before throwing her off an I-290 bridge over Lake Quinsigamond in 2017. The girl, who survived the fall and swam to shore, sought help at a nearby home on the lake.
Hubert was at a cookout with members of the girl's family the day before the incident, according to the DA.

He was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, one count of strangulation and one count of kidnapping a child, according to the DA.

He was also found not guilty of rape. He was sentenced to serve two 14 to 15-year prison sentences.
“I respect the Judge’s decision in sentencing, said Chief Paul Saucier of the Worcester Police Department." This is a horrific case, and the Worcester Police Department is hopeful that it will provide closure to the courageous victim and her family.”
