'Big Papi' Cut Featured for Barbershop Grand Opening
This Worcester barber is known for creating images in people's hair, and quickly.
WORCESTER, MA—This week, when a customer sat in his chair for a cut at the new XX in Worcester, owner Jose Oquendo quickly carved the image of retiring Red Sox star David "Big Papi" Ortiz into the backside of the customer's hair.
Oquendo told WHDH-TV that he chose the Big Papi-do because "he's one of my favorite baseball players and I wanted to pay homage to him and give him the respect he deserves for all the years he’s put on for us."
Oquendo has won several hair-cutting competitions where barbers have to race against the clock to recreate images in people’s hair.

The barber's new shop is called Klippers and a Dream, located at 50 Lake Ave. in Worcester. At 27, Oquendoformerly worked at Michaelangelo's Barbership, and held the grand opening of his new place this past Friday, reports the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
Oquendo's brother received the special haircut, but customers can presumably request it. He is, however, known for hairstyles such as fades and lineups.

According to Oquendo's Facebook page, an image of the Ortiz cut was sent with a personal note to David Ortiz and the Boston Red Sox. There is no word on whether he received a response.
WHDH-TV reports that the barber has also won several competitions for his ability to cut, and quickly, images into people's hair.
