Officer-Related Shooting In Auburn, 1 Sent To Hospital

There is no active shooter or search underway, but the area is closed off due to an 'officer involved shooting' in Auburn.

AUBURN, MA—One man is in the hospital and Massachusetts State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting at a Shell Station in Auburn, District Attorney Joe Early told reporters in Auburn Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier Wednesday, police were on the lookout for a truck with New Hampshire license plates. A probation officer found the truck in the Auburn Shell Station on Swanson Road in Auburn. When officers approached, they saw a man in the driver's seat. Early said gunshots were exchanged and the driver of the truck was wounded and taken to the hospital. It's not clear how serious his injuries are. Police said no officers were injured.

About 1:30 p.m. police and detectives were called to the gas station for a shooting that involved an officer. The gas station is marked off by yellow caution tape, shattered glass can be seen near a red pickup truck, which still has its engine on, parked in the lot.
