Police Seek Who Smashed Stained Glass On Worcester Common
"We cannot as an artistic community let this fact dictate our projects or methods of expression."
WORCESTER, MA—Police are looking for the person, or people, who smashed a stained glass structure created by a Worcester artist on the Worcester Common.
Police were called to the common around 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, where they found the structure created by a Pow! Wow! artist with several of its glass panels smashed, the frame damaged, too.
Detectives think the piece was vandalized at some point on Friday night and then again on Saturday night. They're gathering information and looking for suspects.

Pow! Wow! Worcester is part of a worldwide initiative to produce immersive cultural experiences around a 10-day festival. Over the past two years, Pow! Wow! Worcester has curated nearly 60 murals, plus pop-up events and custom installations around the city.
"As is the case with any piece of public art, we understand that vandalism is an unfortunate possibility," Jessica Walsh, Pow! Wow! director, told Patch. "Creating art that is available to all is exactly what makes it vulnerable. We cannot as an artistic community let this fact dictate our projects or methods of expression. We will continue to help create beautiful public art and encourage others to do the same. "
