Street Sign Dedicated To Late Worcester Activist Bill Coleman

WORCESTER, MA — An intersection in Worcester now honors a late local activist.

The newly named "William S. Coleman III" intersection, located on the corner of Gardner and Mai Streets to Hollis Street, was unveiled on Monday. Coleman, who died on July 20 at 70 years old, was a pillar in the Worcester community, serving as an activist and civic leader.

He attended what is now Worcester State University. He ran for public office several times over the years, including a recent run for mayor in 2023.

"Beautiful way to celebrate and honor my dad on his birthday," Coleman's daughter, Jenna Fitzgerald, shared on social media. "Thank you to Mayor Petty, Luis Ojeda, Krystian King, and everyone else that helped make this happen."
