Trial Begins For Man Accused Of Rape, Throwing Child Off Bridge In Worcester: Report

WORCESTER, MA — The trial has begun for a man accused of kidnapping, raping and throwing a child over the I-290 overpass in Worcester in 2017, according to MassLive.

Joshua Hubert, who was 35 years old at the time, was indicted on two counts of attempted murder, one count of kidnapping a child under 16, and strangulation or suffocation, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

Hubert has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently out on bail after posting the $50,000 bail set in 2018, according to MassLive.

MassLive reported that there are 54 possible witnesses on the prosecutor's list, including the girl, who is now a teenager.

Hubert was at a cookout with the victim's family the day before the crime. He is accused of putting the girl in his car, where he strangled her and then threw her off the I-290 bridge over Lake Quinsigamond. The girl swam to shore and sought help at a home on the Shrewsbury side of the lake.
