Uber Driver, Passenger Escape Armed Carjacking In Lancaster
The incident remains under investigation.
LANCASTER, MA — What began as a late-night stop to clear a tree from the road turned into a narrow escape.
An Uber driver and a female passenger escaped armed carjackers shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Lancaster Police Department. The incident happened on Seven Bridge Road near the Bolton town line.
The driver and passenger stopped to remove a tree limb blocking the roadway. While doing that, two males came at them, Lancaster police said.

One of the men was armed with a gun. Both men entered the vehicle when the armed suspect demanded the passenger's phone at gunpoint.
The Uber driver physically confronted the unarmed suspect, according to police. Then the driver and passenger both left the area unharmed and contacted the police.

Lancaster police described the men as "Hispanic males of smaller stature." One was described as "having puffy hair consistent with an afro, wearing sweatpants and no shirt."
The incident remains under investigation, but police believe there is no danger to the community.
