Worcester Academy Middle School Students Pull Successful Musical
Students in Worcester Academy Middle School presented 'Helen on 86th St' at the Worcester Academy Performance Center.
From Worcester Academy: Local students in Worcester Academy's Middle School presented "Helen on 86th St.," Jan. 25-27, at the Worcester Academy Performance Center. The students, who partipated as cast and crew, developed real world skills and effective interpersonal communications and gained self-confidence.
Among those contributing to the success of the musical were:
Amy Belliveau of Shrewsbury, Grade 8, was a Sound Mixer.

Michael Tonelli of Shrewsbury, Grade 8, played the role of "Tommy Aldridge."
Helen on 86th St. is a Kaufman, Kempskie and Stamper collaboration focusing on 12-year-old "Vita Calista" as she learns to cope with an absent father, a single mother, a disappointing role inside the Trojan Horse in the school play, and the daily pressures of being a 'tween growing up in New York City.

The students were honored to perform the show for Helen On 86th St. author Nicole Kempskie, who said she loved the WA performance.
The Worcester Academy Visual and Performing Arts Department is dedicated to offering students a vibrant and transformative education in the arts, grounded in exposure to and experience in theatre, visual art, and music. The arts at Worcester Academy are a training ground for collaboration, problem solving, and creative expression. They encourage students to look within and discover their own voices, as well as to look outside themselves to hear and understand the voices of others. The arts program also provides a foundation for further study for student who wish to make a life in the arts and, for all students, teaches the importance of making the arts a part of life.
