Worcester Appoints New Commissioner Of Public Works And Parks
Worcester announced a new commissioner of the city's public works and parks would be appointed effective in February.

WORCESTER, MA - John Westerling will serve as the next commissioner of Worcester’s public works and parks starting Feb. 18, the city announced Friday afternoon.
“Westerling is a committed public works leader with a strong record of implementing community-focused solutions, optimizing operational efficiencies and successfully managing budgets with fiscal responsibility,” City Manager Eric Batista said, “I’m excited to have him join the Department and look forward to seeing it grow and thrive under his leadership.”
Westerling has over 30 years of experience in leadership positions, and he most recently served as the director of public works for Natick. From Feb. 2011 to April 2013 he was in that same role for Hopkinton, and previously in West Boylston. He’s a civil engineering graduate from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Westerling also has a masters in public administration from Clark University.
