Worcester County First Responders Honored For Rescuing Man In Woods
A group of 21 worked together to rescue a man lost in the forest in Douglas in July.

WORCESTER COUNTY, MA — The Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early honored a group of first responders and town employees on Tuesday.
The DA recognized first responders from Douglas, Webster, and Uxbridge, which included police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and highway department personnel. The group of 21 worked together to rescue an injured man lost in the forest in Douglas on July 18.
On that day, police and fire crews responded to the Woodland Road area after receiving a call from a man who reported that he was injured and lost in the woods. In 50 minutes, personnel had located, medically assessed, and extradited the injured hiker, who was exposed to the hot summer elements for two hours.

“This challenging rescue required first responders, dispatcher, and highway personnel to come together as a team and adapt at every step of the way,” Mr. Early said. “Because of this group’s swift response, this man was successfully located and received the proper medical care he needed.”
