Worcester Honors Veterans With Flag Raising

WORCESTER, MA — The city honored veterans with a flag-raising ceremony last week.
On Thursday, the city raised the Purple Heart flag outside of City Hall. The ceremony is meant to honor those who were wounded or died in combat.

It was officially recognized in 2014, as it honors and remembers men and women who were awarded the Purple Heart, which was created in 1782.
Local leaders attended the ceremony, including City Manager Eric Batista and Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early.
