Worcester Man With Almost 80 Prior Charges Now Accused Of OUI, Drug Trafficking

Police confiscated a large bag of cocaine and hundreds of dollars in cash.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man, who police said has nearly 80 charges on his record, was arrested in Webster on Wednesday.

Andrew Simpson is facing charges, including operating under the influence of drugs. The 47-year-old was also caught with more than 18 grams of cocaine and more than $650 in cash, according to the Webster Police Department.

Simpson, who police said has an extensive criminal history, was pulled over in a Range Rover SUV with a failed inspection sticker and a dark cover over the license plate, according to the Webster Police Department.

When talking to Simpson, the officer was led to believe he was under the influence of drugs. Police said Simpson became argumentative, but eventually was removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital.

Inside the car, police said they found a large, clear bag of cocaine, with a total weight of 18.63 grams. There was also a bundle of $661 in cash, police said.

The Webster Police Department said that some of Simpson's other charges include violent felonies with knives and firearms, and a charge of armed assault with intent to murder.

On Wednesday, Simpson was charged with OUI Drugs, Trafficking Cocaine (18-36 Grams), Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Number Plate Violation and Failed Inspection.
