Worcester Man Arrested After Child Abuse Incident Near Coes Pond

Worcester police said the man "inappropriately touched" a child before he was corralled by passersby.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police have arrested a man who was seen inappropriately touching a child, and who had a warrant for a similar incident.

Police said officers went to Coes Pond on Wednesday after a report of a man "behaving inappropriately toward a child." According to police, three passersby interrupted the incident, and then followed the offender to his home, where he was arrested.

"The suspect has been the subject of multiple complaints from residents for similar incidents and had an active arrest warrant for a similar offense. The suspect was arrested for his warrant and is facing new charges for this incident," the department said in a news release.

Police did not immediately provide any other details due to a minor being involved.
