Self-Storage Drug Racket: Worcester Man Arrested At Shrewsbury Cube Smart

Police seized a range of different drugs from the storage unit after finding the man there early Tuesday morning.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A Worcester man was running a drug dealing operation out of a Route 9 storage unit — until Shrewsbury police caught him at work early Tuesday, the department reported.

A Shrewsbury officer visited the Cube Smart facility just east of South Street just before 2:30 a.m. for a routine security check. The officer rolled by an open unit with a man inside, and a car parked outside with an altered license plate.

"After an investigation, it was discovered that the male had provided the officer with a fake name, could not provide the owner of the vehicle's name, and the vehicle’s license plate and inspection sticker had both been altered. The male was also discovered to have four warrants for his arrest," the department said in a news release.

The department reported finding 27 grams of cocaine, 18 grams of cocaine in rock form, 9 grams of fentanyl and 27 unidentified pills. Police also seized $2,158 from the storage locker.
