Worcester Man Charged With Carrying Loaded Handgun

A Worcester man was charged with carrying a loaded handgun after officers apprehended him at the scene of a reported fight.

WORCESTER, MA - A Worcester man was charged for carrying a loaded handgun without a license, according to a news release from the Worcester Police Department (WPD).

Officers responded to a fight near Elm Park on March 16 where a firearm was reportedly involved. One man, later identified as Derick Barjolo, 22, fled the scene toward Russell Street when police arrived, and as he was running he kept one arm in his jacket pocket. Officers were concern that meant he was carrying a firearm, and when they caught up to him on Townsend Street they found a loaded handgun on his person.

Barjolo, a resident of Hudston Street, was charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace and Resisting Arrest.
