WORCESTER, MA — A Grove Street restaurant will shut down temporarily, with representatives from the eatery planning to reopen after the July 4 weekend.

The owners of Oak Barrel Tavern, 229 Grove St., told customers over the weekend that the restaurant would not be open for one week starting Monday for a renovation project. Representatives from the restaurant said Monday that Oak Barrel Tavern will reopen July 8 at 4 p.m.

The Worcester location opened in spring 2016 north of the downtown area, offering diners American tavern-style fare and a large selection of draft beers, bourbon and whiskey. The Worcester location took over the former Tweed's restaurant, which operated along Grove Street for nearly three decades.
