Here's Why Worcester Police Vehicles Will Have Blue Lights For The Next 6 Months
All police cars will have a steady blue cruise light.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police vehicles will have a steady blue light for the next six months.
The new pilot program, which is meant to test the use of high-visibility blue lights, began on Sunday. The lights will be used to increase visibility, reduce crime and traffic violations and boost public awareness, according to the city.
“Our hope is that this program will help reduce the risk of collisions and deter unsafe driving habits,” said Worcester Chief Paul Saucier. “The blue lights show drivers that our officers are out there and are a reminder to operate lawfully. I believe this could be an effective initiative for us to enhance visibility and take a more proactive stance on traffic calming measures.”

Drivers do not have to pull over when the blue lights are on, and should only pull over for flashing lights and sirens.
