Worcester Police Warn Of Phone Scam

The Worcester Police Department sent out a public service announcement that phone scammers are impersonating officers.

WORCESTER, MA - The Worcester Police Department issued a public service announcement that they've received reports of scammers impersonating officers over the phone.

"These scammers are claiming to be Worcester Police officers and demanding that a fee be paid to clear up an 'outstanding warrant,'" the news release said. "The Worcester Police Department will never contact anyone over the phone to ask for money, and we advise that you contact us immediately if you receive a similar call."

Residents should be wary of unexpected phone calls and double check caller identification before answering.
