Here's What's Happening In Worcester This Weekend

It will be a busy weekend in the city.

WORCESTER, MA — It will be a busy weekend in Downtown Worcester.

The Worcester Pride Festival and the Breakaway Music Festival are both scheduled for the weekend. The events will bring a lot of people into the city, and cause many road closures and detours.

To kick off the weekend, the Queer AF Art and Fashion Show is on Friday. The event at Mechanics Hall on Main Street kicks off at 8 p.m., with a red carpet at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Worcester Pride Festival will be on Franklin Street from 2 to 7 p.m. There will be live performances, food and drink vendors and a youth and family zone, as well as health services.

The following roads will be closed from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

  • Front Street between Main and Church Streets
  • Franklin Street between Main and Salem Streets
  • Church Street between Front and Franklin Streets
  • Portland Street between Franklin and Federal Streets

The following roads will be closed temporarily from 2 to 2:15 p.m.:

  • Green Street between Winter Street and Francis J. McGrath Boulevard
  • Francis J. McGrath Boulevard between Front and Myrtle Streets
  • Temple Street between Harding and Green Streets

The Breakaway Music Festival is happening on Friday and Saturday at the Palladium. Some big names are playing the festival, like The Chainsmokers, Subtronics and DJ Diesel.

The following roads will be closed from Thursday until Sunday at 10 p.m.:

  • MLK sidewalk from Main to Commercial Street on the South Side

The following roads will be closed from 10 a.m. on Friday until 2 a.m. on Sunday:

  • Main Street from Exchange Street to MLK
  • One lane of MLK on the South Side from Main to Commercial Street
