WORCESTER, MA — Crime in Worcester is trending downward this year, according to new city data.

Statistics from the first half of 2025 show two reported homicides, compared to seven at this point last year. Non-fatal shootings also dropped, with eight incidents and nine victims, down from 2024. Robberies are also down 25% and reported gunshots have fallen 28%.

The city attributes the decline to increased patrol activity and more 911 calls. Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said patrol-initiated incidents are up about 54% since the pandemic. He added, "foot patrols are making a real difference in the community."
