Worcester State University Honors Open Sky CEO As Distinguished Alumnus
He was honored at a ceremony earlier this month.

WORCESTER, MA — Open Sky Community Services' president and CEO, Ken Bates, was honored by his alma mater for his professional achievements last week.
Bates, who serves as the leader of the nonprofit behavioral health and human services organization, was presented with the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award by Worcester State University at a ceremony earlier this month. The life-long Worcester resident earned his bachelor's degree from WSU in 1987.
The award is presented to a former WSU student who is a leader in business, professional, or civic life and lives by the highest intellectual and ethical standards, according to the school.

Bates was recognized for his dedication to serving the community, as Open Sky has become a leading human services organization in Central Massachusetts.
The nonprofit, which supports more than 8,000 individuals each year,provides a wide range of services for children, adults, and families with mental health challenges, intellectual and developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, brain injury, and homelessness, among other things.

“My education at Worcester State University set me up to be the leader that I am today and was instrumental in my decision to pursue what has been an extremely fulfilling career in human services,” said Bates. “I am deeply appreciative to be a recipient of the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award and to be an alumnus of Worcester State.”
