King Philip Students 'Paint School Pink'
Students at King Philip Regional High School "painted the school pink" in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
WRENTHAM, MA — King Philips Regional High School has turned pink in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Paint the School Pink event was organized by KP Cares, the school's community service club.
Students groups, clubs and sports team joined KP Cares on Oct. 10, redesigning the common area with pink streamers, balloons, tablecloths and paper plates. Many teachers also got involved by submitting the name of someone they know who was affected by breast cancer. The names were submitted to the National Honor Society. Then, students decorated the teachers' doors in honor of the that person.
"We are proud of our students for their display of solidarity and their efforts to support the many people who have been affected by breast cancer," said Superintendent Paul Zinni. "School-wide events such as this show what great things can be accomplished when a student group takes initiative in supporting a cause that they feel is important."

In addition to turning the school pink, King Philip athletic teams host a "pink night" during October to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. At these games, athletes wear pink socks to show their support, school officials say.
