State Police: Loaded Handgun, 28 Rounds of Ammunition and Halloween Mask in Car

Alleged road rage leads to gun arrests. A motorist called 911 and said a gun had been pointed at him by a man in a Volkswagen.

Two men are scheduled to be arraigned on gun charges on Thursday in Attleboro District Court

Trooper Michael Tryon, assigned to the State Police Barracks in Foxboro, was notified of a road rage incident around 4 Wednesday afternoon on Route 95 southbound in Sharon.

A motorist called 911 and said a gun had been pointed at him by a man in a Volkswagen. The caller gave the license plate of the vehicle and a description of the two men inside the car.

Trooper Tryon stopped the Volkswagen on Route 95 southbound in Mansfield.

The driver, Yomar Romero, 21, of Pawtucket, R.I., was arrested for a default warrant out of Uxbridge District Court. The passenger, Justin Smith, 20, of Providence, R.I., had a .32 caliber shell casing in his pocket, according to state police.

A loaded .32 caliber Colt handgun was found inside the car, along with a box containing 28 rounds of ammunition, and a Halloween mask, according to state police.

Neither man had a valid license to carry a firearm and both were arrested and transported to the State Police Barracks in Foxboro where they were booked and were held on $10,000 bail each.

ROMERO was charged with the following offenses:

1. Possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card.

2. Possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card.

3. Carrying a firearm without a license

4. Default warrant

SMITH was charged with the following offenses:

1. Carrying a firearm without a license

2. Assault with A dangerous weapon

3. Possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card.
