Wrentham Town Meeting: What You Need To Know

Community Preservation Fund project proposals are among 27 articles that will go before Wrentham voters.

WRENTHAM, MA — This Monday, Wrentham residents will vote on 27 articles as part of the fall Town Meeting. The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the King Philip High School auditorium at 201 Franklin St.

Of the articles being presented to the voters, seven relate to Community Preservation Fund projects. A total of $629,715 is being propose to fund these projects. According to town officials, the Community Preservation Fund collects money from a real estate surcharge that is then partially matched by the state.

Three of the projects Community Preservation Fund seek to improve the health of the town's lakes — Lake Pearl, Lake Archer and Mirror Lake.

Other articles propose projects that would enhance the local Housing Authority residential areas and to clean and restore nine historic paintings by Wrentham artist Joseph Cowell.

Another article proposes building a new playground installation at the William A. Rice Complex. Town officials say that the modern, accessible playground would be a focal point at the complex.

Another Community Preservation Fund article proposes updating the town's Open Space and Recreation plan. This plan makes Wrentham eligible to apply for grants that help to further invest in outdoor and recreation space, according to town officials.

In addition to Community Preservation Fund articles, voters on Monday will vote on by-laws, including one relating to the Route 1 commercial district. The proposal is to condense seven zoning districts into three. Town officials say this would help streamline the commercial development process.
