Trump Projected To Win MI: AP
Former President Donald Trump flipped Michigan — and the entire "Blue Wall" — in the 2024 race.

MICHIGAN — Donald Trump has won Michigan's presidential race, adding 15 more electoral votes to his path for the presidency, according to unofficial vote totals.
The Associated Press called the race just before 1 p.m. Wednesday when Trump secured just under 50 percent of the vote over Vice President Kamala Harris, according to unofficial vote totals.
Trump's thin margin of victory of 81,214 votes is less than the margin he lost to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, which was by roughly 154,000 votes. In 2016, Trump beat Hillary Clinton by roughly 10,600 votes in Michigan.

Trump, who also won Michigan in 2016, is the only Republican to win Michigan's presidential race since 1992. In 2016 he defeated Clinton by a slim margin of 47.5 percent of the vote compared to Clinton’s 47.3 percent. It was the narrowest margin of victory for a presidential race in Michigan’s history, as well as the narrowest margin for any state in the 2016 race.
According to 270ToWin, “From 1972 through 1988, (Michigan) voted exclusively Republican, before becoming part of the 'blue wall' that voted Democratic in six consecutive presidential elections from 1992 through 2012.” Since 1992, Michigan has chosen the same candidate as other “blue wall” states Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Both candidates spent months campaigning hard in Michigan, where Harris had the backing of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. She hosted a town hall from Michigan alongside Oprah Winfrey, and her rallies had appearances by celebrities, including Detroit's own Eminem.
Meanwhile, Trump and running mate JD Vance made numerous campaign stops in Michigan, although the former president's remarks about Detroit drew ire. Trump slammed Detroit while speaking to economic leaders in the city, arguing the city's auto industry is "collapsing" and "it's going out of business" and it must be "saved."
