This MI Airport Ranks Among Best In The Nation
The study looks at customer's experience across seven broad categories.
Detroit Metro Airport was ranked among the best mega airports when it comes to overall customer satisfaction.
Consumer data firm J.D. Power placed Detroit Metro Airport No. 2, with 649 points out of 1,000. Only Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport ranked higher with 660 points out of 1,000.
The firm's 2025 North America Airport Satisfaction Study draws on feedback from more than 30,000 U.S. or Canadian travelers between July 2024 and July 2025.

The study looks at customer's experience across seven categories, including ease of travel through the airport, level of trust with the airport, terminal facilities, airport staff, departure/to airport experience, food, beverage and retail, and arrival/from airport experience.
Mega airports are defined as those with 33 million or more passengers per year; large airports with 10 to 32.9 million passengers per year and medium airports with 4.5 to 9.9 million passengers per year.

Among large airports, John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California ranks scored the highest ranking, followed by Tampa International Airport and Dallas Love Field.
Indianapolis International Airport earned the top spot for medium-sized airports, while Ontario International Airport and Buffalo Niagara International Airport followed.
