MI Man Arrested After He's Caught With Missing 14-Year-Old Girl: Sheriff

Officials accused the man of harboring a juvenile runaway​ and arrested him, while the teen was returned to her family.

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI — A man has been arrested after he was caught with a 14-year-old girl who ran away from home in Monroe County, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials said the 14-year-old girl ran away from her Frenchtown Township home last Friday.

Her family used a tracking app to locate her at a Meijer store in Monroe, officials said.

Officers did not find the girl at the store, but they did get security video that showed the girl and a man getting into a vehicle and leaving, officials said.

Investigators used license plate readers to track the car and learned it was an Uber. They talked to the driver, who then led officers to the pair in Monroe, officials said.

Officials did not identify the man because he hasn't been formally charged.

It was unclear if the man will face any additional charges.
