A Michigan Meijer employee died after a workplace accident​ last week, according to multiple news reports.

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — A Michigan Meijer employee died after a workplace accident last week, according to multiple news reports.

The incident happened at a Mount Pleasant store located at 1015 E. Pickard Road at 2 a.m. on July 22, reports said.

Officials said the 59-year-old dairy and frozen food worker was using a stand-up forklift to unload a truck when he fell from the semi-truck trailer and hit his head.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, officials said.

Meijer is cooperating with the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration and providing resources for employees who are grieving the loss of their coworker.
